Cecilia Plasencia recently relocated to Los Angeles after receiving her MFA in furniture design from the Rhode Island School of Design in 2018. Her thesis work celebrates the relationship between gravity and matter--using gravity both as a jig to create her designs and the force to ground them. She writes:
"Rather then controlling materials I allow them to do as they please. I capture their phenomenal moment and give them a platform to speak for themselves. This series concentrates on the persistent romance between matter and gravity."
We were very excited to introduce her designs to Room 68 in the summer of 2018 and continue to highlight her latest creations.
