Isabel Riley makes sculpture in Dorchester, MA. This architectural and totemic work is made from materials that are borrowed from the natural and manmade world. Textile, metal, plastic, wood, shell, glitter and other detritus are mixed with masonry to make sensitive and strong recordings of her daily life. These pieces carry a spiritual presence and delight the eye, surprising viewers from all angles and made with care. This series “Sustainability” speaks to the reason why artists make art: to maintain inner and outer equilibrium in this ever changing and troubling political and environmental climate.
