Michael Mittelman

Michael Mittelman merges digital and analog techniques in his work. In this current series, the natural materials of maple and walnut woods are cut with grooves designed in CAD software and executed by a CNC router. The result is a form that can be recreated, but wood patterns and grains that will never be exactly the same.  The flowing lines contrast with the linear layout, and the grooves create an interference pattern in the wood, making the work change dramatically depending on the angle it is viewed from.
