These Method Bowls are geometric fruit bowls exhibiting traces of their fabrication. They are designed and made in the USA from American hardwoods.
They are made using a CNC router: A digital 3D model is made and a computer communicates with a robotic cutting machine to replicate the digital model in wood, through carving with a router bit.
The Method Bowls are a result of a synthesis of traditional and digital craft. They are available in Cherry, Walnut, Maple, Pickled Walnut, and Pickled Maple.
Pickling wood involves coating hardwood with iron and a vinegar solution. The process oxidizes the tannins in wood, speeding up a natural process that takes place in many wood species as they age.
