Procession: Reversible Rug

Wool felt is a textile that has been made for millennia using a traditional technique of matting, condensing, and pressing wool fibers. Boston-based designer Cary Hewitt is applying this ancient technique to create beautifully modern reversible rugs. Hewitt's felt rugs are created with regionally sourced wools and hand-dyed fibers that are then layered onto each other. Hewitt's layering technique allows for the rugs to have different patterns on each side, thereby making the rugs reversible. And Hewitt's own interest in modern design give this traditional technique a fresh life.
